Dear Fisherperson,
The 29th Annual EARLY BIRD FISHING TOURNAMENT sponsored by the Wisconsin River Lions Club is approaching. The purpose remains the same: to help less fortunate people in our community and especially to provide opportunities for blind youth to live out their camping dreams. Back by popular demand is the GUARANTEED $1,000 TOP PRIZE and a CASH PAYOUT for 1st time entrants. (details below)
This year’s tournament will be for TWO DAYS and held on SATURDAY APRIL 28TH from 7:00 TO 4:00 and SUNDAY APRIL 29th from 7:00 to 1:00 at the DuBay County Park.
THE TOURNAMENT IS NOW OPEN TO ANYONE and no longer restricted to people who previously fished the event. New participants (or those who haven’t participated in the last two tournaments) will be competing for the Rookie of the Year honor and CASH.
Sign up early and FISH FOR FREE! Entries received prior to April 1st will be entered into a drawing and one lucky boat will have their $130 entry fee refunded. Registration is limited to the first 100 entry forms received, so please get your entries in promptly. Registrations are on a first come first serve basis. Any entry form received after April 25th will start last both days.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND. We will be paying out the top 5 point finishers as well as 2 additional boats randomly selected. If your boat is not in the top 5 your boat number will be entered into a drawing and you will have an opportunity to win CASH. Boats are required to fish both Saturday and Sunday and be present at the Sunday awards ceremony to be eligible.
The advance meeting will be held Thursday, April 26th at 7:00 pm, at Meyer’s Landing. Meyer’s is located just west of the Hwy. 34 bridge in the same building as Ron Meyer’s Marine.
The DNR bait rule will again be covered in the rules during the Thursday meeting along with the blaze orange hat requirement. It will be up to each person to furnish their own blaze orange hat.
Land a fishing partner and we’ll see you and your friends the last weekend of April. Your support of the Wisconsin River Lions Early Bird Fishing Tournament is SINCERELY APPRECIATED by all of the families and kids that benefit from your participation.
